LOGOS & RHEMA

We have been doing a series of studies on Hearing from God. We are seeking deeper understanding of God's Word and how he speaks to us. In this weeks teaching we have been discussing the use of the Greek words Logos and Rhema. These two words are both translated in English as "word" or "words". However, they have a slightly different meaning.

Logos- usually described as the “written” word of God. Is actually defined in Greek as “the expression of thought, word, account communication or doctrine. It is also the title of the Son of God, a personal manifestation of the deity of Christ.

Rhema is defined in Greek as – “that which is spoken, what is uttered in speech, writing or saying. Rhema specifically refers to a revelation or insight from God, received through the Holy Spirit. Also referred to as the Living Message – alive by the Spirit of God.

I will be posting scripture lists each week for our congregation, differentiating the actual Greek reference using Logos and Rhema. For more information on this topic, please visit our website at www.soulsharborministries.com and go to Sermons - Hearing from God.
